While I Was Out

Well I am back in the States from my 10-day trip overseas. It seems that the house had a heck of an adventure while I was away. Let me tell you about them! First to review, as of my leaving on vacation 10 days ago I hadn't closed on the house yet but had given my father power of attorney in case the closing had to occur while I was away. That didn't happen, which I am quite thankful for because sometime early last week the house was robbed!!! Apparently there have been a string of robberies in Indianapolis where the insides of air conditioning units are being removed and sold off for scrap. The copper tubes where removed and the rest of the unit was left in shambles. Since I haven't closed yet the bank was willing to pay me for half damages so I can replace the unit. The way I see it is that I was going to have to put in a new system anyway so I just got $700 paid towards it. Way to go criminals, Thanks.

On to the closing, I am awaiting a call to set the time and place. So the next time I post, I will have the house and the real work can begin.

And the wait continues...........

I had a day of ups and downs yesterday, as I was told that I could close on the house this Friday (2/10/06) and then later in the day I was informed that the closing would have to wait a week due to unforseen issues with the seller needing to make some improvements such as fixing a gutter, some piping, etc. Don't they understand I am going to fix the house up. I will be tearing down all the gutters anyway. From the banks end I think I am working with idiots. I wish I would have had more time to shop around.

The closing date of this Friday 2/17 is very frustrating from my end since I am heading over to Europe here from 2/16 till 2/26 on vacation. Unless I give power of attorney to my old man or sister, I will have to wait until I get back to get this deal finalized. I know what you are thinking, it is such a rough life getting a trip to Ireland with all my lodging and airfare paid for. Don't feel too sorry for me. It is great having a mother who gets these trips in appreciation for her placing exchange students in homes, and it is even better that she is taking me along.

Back to the closing time, it looks like I will probably not be getting the house until I return so that would make the closing on February 27th. I am still holding onto the outside possibility that I can get it within this week, but I think that is a long shot. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.

Never thought I would have Critics!

Wow, I found out that I have critics last night. Actually it was this morning (2:30 AM to be exact), I got several phone calls from some friends who were bored and in the mood to give me a hard time about "blogging". Big shout out to those guys right now, it really is good to know you have friends who don't mind giving you grief at any hour of the day.
